The last few weeks ... My furniture and interior

I thought that it was time again to write something in the blog ;-)
I do know, not so right to write what I can, but I you still try even a little story to tell.
Now I'm almost 2 months mittlweile here and I am now settled in really well already. What's new? 3 weeks ago we got a new roommate to do so. He is also a German, and makes exactly the same program as I have here in Brazil. He will remain here for 9 months and live in our Volunteershouse. As I said, he has now also been here for 3 weeks now and learn (with me) Portuguese. Since I was already at the first point: Portuguese! I understand if you speak relatively slowly, has just about everything, but for them to speak it still a bit ticked. It helps me very much indeed that I had in high school English, because some words are similar or the same, but so far I can only say simple things or express. It is indeed in every case much better than the beginning, but really can apply to the language well, I probably still need a few weeks. Well so that's just when you learn a new language.

Since last week wi auchr a new "roommate at the time." He is German and wants to visit his brother, who lives just for a year in Rio de Janeiro. But not for vacation so that he does, he has opted to cooperate with us for 3 weeks and after that to go to his brother in Rio. For those 3 weeks, he also lives here in the Voluhuose.
Today we finally have wireless Internet here in Voluhouse. That's why I could now finally come to and write a new journal.

The work I am running quite well. It is not very exciting, because really every day the same happened, but it makes me still a lot of fun with the young children to work. I have also now been fixed my groups to which I always go back and thus the children know me already and I can thus build a better relationship with them. Even if the children are not just "Tio," but "Tio Cristiano" (pronounced like the Brazilians my name) said to me, I feel better because I realize that the children already know who I am and what I do.

Last week I played with some volunteers and a few Brazilians Ultimate Frisbee. That is now not as a traditional Brazilian sport, but because it gave me quite a lot of fun, I wanted the times to mention ... Ultimate Frisbee is really like soccer, except that not gespilt with a ball but with a Fribee. In addition, there are no gates but you have to catch the Frisbee in a designated area to get a point. Actually know the Brazilians even garkeine Frisbee and the idea came from another German volunteers. Then I come now to
typical Brazilian sport. Just before Christmas, on 12/23/2010, here it is a football game between Horizonte Azul (where I work) and give Monte Azul. This can also play the volunteers and we are already hard at training. Every day during the lunch break, we get together and play a bit too good to be prepared ;-). In the game I am also very much.
Speaking of Christmas: There are a couple good new news. Over Christmas and New Year is a good friend of mine who is currently in Peru for a year to visit us here in Brazil. And after that I will be flying in the middle of January for a good week with her in Peru. This is certainly a very nice time and I'm curious if you can compare Peru with Brazil or if everything is totally different.

nor think that arise in me a real Christmas feeling is simply missing because the cold and snow.

Today i will start to write anything about my work, but over dne Kamarowski. This is the central market in Minsk. Last Sunday Hannah and I have went there because we wanted to stock up on vegetables and sometimes fruit, because the government in the stores do not always look so delicious and we somehow wanted to eat again with more fruit and vegetables. On the Kamarowski there is a large hall with meat, bread and sides all sorts of small kiosks where one of coffee, tea, dried fruit, pharmacies, chemist shops to find all animal feed.

Also, I am schonmal thank all who have been thinking of me and congratulated me for birthday. The "Hesed Rahamim"

Today I want something about my work in the "Hesed - Rahamim" Cell

under the name "Hesed" is available in Eastern Europe all many Jewish social and cultural centers. Each "Hesed" still has a nickname, that is, in Minsk, therefore, "Hesed - Rahamim.

The Hesed is my main project, actually, I should work there three times a week, but since we are only three volunteers and more than enough projects, I have agreed with the leaders of Hesed, that I still work a day in the history workshop. So I'm always on Mondays and Wednesdays in Hesed.

The Hesed in Minsk has various facilities and amenities: There is the cultural center, a museum, a group of children, craft activities for children and young people but also for older people, a play group, dance groups etc. but also the social center, the various services organized, for example something such as meals on wheels or even a linen service. There are also medical assistance, the employees are trained nurses and then visit clients at home and help with the care.

Here in Belarus is such that it by the state, especially for elderly and sick people are no help. It is a medical visiting service, but still get very few elderly people that support. They depend on help from her family and if that does not help them or can not help, they come in psychiatry or disabled people.

Therefore, it is good that there is the Hesed, which offers these services.

Hesed I usually go in with a driver and a companion, and distribute food, food or bedding. Depending on what's coming up on the day, we'll go first, the food pick up at a restaurant, or at a wholesale market and then the packages are packed and it starts, usually right through Minsk. The times I had with a driver and companion on the road was, it was mostly so that I wore only the packages and has the attendant then talked to the people and I was also presented. At first I came here before me rather unnecessary. This Wednesday I went for the first time alone was a driver on the road. Initially, the driver still skeptical and said to Natalia (my "coordinator" in Hesed), that I could not understand him enough Russian and yes it would ... Another driver has recently also been concerns that the packages are too heavy for me and stuff, so all good, they are always very concerned about me;)

I usually go on Mondays with the drivers to have for the Wednesday and time for my two babushkas Esther and Irina.

Otherwise, there are always many different Hesed offers, parties and events, for example, I was already on the Jewish New Year celebration, an anniversary concert of the dance group and a presentation of the program "My second birthday". Also, I would still have the option, if my Russian is better to help children in the group, say yes, but also a family of Hesed visit, I left for the children's group, at least for the moment no time. Wednesday I was also still on the tour of Sabaton, to have that I am so happy for months. The concert was really great, the atmosphere was great, I stood in the front row and was just totally blown away by Sabaton and the whole atmosphere!
